Winemaking Notes

Our love of the dry rosé wines of southern France began while dining at a café terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. We were fascinated to see a bottle of rosé at most tables, the perfect companion to sunshine and leisure. Memories of that afternoon were the inspiration for this rosé, a blend of estate Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Counoise. The name, Enjoué, a French word meaning joyful; playful; lighthearted; sunny; buoyant; cheerful, captures the essence of that experience.

The wines delightful salmon-pink color is the result of red wine grapes made in a white wine style; the definition of classic rosé. The aroma shows notes of strawberry, ruby grapefruit and mango. The zesty acidity, supple texture and a long, lingering finish allow this rosé to pair seamlessly with a wide variety of foods, seducing even the most skeptical red wine drinker. To us, it is a refreshing taste of summer and sunshine even on a winters day.

Vineyard Notes

Our estate in Sonoma Valley is rich in historical significance, encompassing organically farmed vineyards and an eco-friendly winery. Justi Creek Vineyards, part of the stunning 95-acre ranch on the outskirts of Glen Ellen, is comprised of three adjacent parcels, formerly parts of Rancho Vallejo and Rancho Los Guilicos. Nancy and John Lasseter embarked on an environmentally sensitive upgrading of their property, lovingly restoring the natural habitat and converting the vineyards exclusively to organic farming practices. The pond was revitalized, and beehives and insectaries were established in order to provide homes for beneficial insects.

The ecosystem flourishes under the watchful eye of vineyard manager Phil Coturri. Rhône varietals Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Counoise, and Carignan grow on our 95-acre estate on the Glen Ellen Bench. These vines provide us with the classic components for an old world style dry rosé - the exceptional fruit from which we craft Enjoué. Our Enjoué is delicate and delicious, with elegance and finesse.
