Winemaking Notes
Enjoué Rosé is a "true" Rosé of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, inspired by our travels through Provence in the South of France. Fruit is ripened specifically to produce the a highly aromatic, flavorful, crisp Rosé, rather than through the saigneé method using grapes that have been ripened for red wine production and "bled" to produce rosé as a by product of red wine production.
This dry rosé, whose name means "playful" in French, is scented with strawberry and ruby grapefruit, and offers a delicate palate of stone fruit, with a bright refreshing finish.
Vineyard Notes
Justi Creek Vineyards is our original estate property, located at our winery in Glen Ellen, which was an enclave for the earliest French winemakers in California in the 1890's. Under the care of the Lasseters, it has been painstakingly restored and reimagined with great attention to detail, and is the site of our eco-friendly winery that respects the small footprint of the original winery.
This site benefits from being a warmer area within the valley, but also the narrowest section, resulting in a funnel that concentrates the cool ocean breezes and creates huge diurnal shifts that allow for long hang time and full flavor development with good acid retention.
Label Artwork
The back label of each wine in our artwork series is graced with a commissioned work of art from Dennis Ziemienski, that tells the unique story of the wine.
The Lasseters fell in love with Rosé during their travels to the South of France. There seemed to be a bottle on every table as they dined their way along the Mediterranean Sea and they found themselves smitten by these fresh, dry, Provençale style wines. They brought back nineteen exemplary Rosés to share with the team to help guide them to develop their own.
Enjoué is French for playful or joyful, and the diving girl pictured in the label artwork was chosen to reflect the delightful crisp Rosé that is in the bottle.
