Winemaking Notes
Deep garnet in color and aromatic with notes of blackberry and tea, this wine is plush on the palate with generous flavors of black cherry, mocha, an a touch of dried herbs. The finish is long, with supple tannins and bright acidity.

Vineyard Notes
Justi Creek Vineyard, our original estate property located at our winery in Glen Ellen, was an enclave for the earliest French winemakers in California in the 1890's. It has been painstakingly restored and reimagined with great attention to detail, and is the site of our small, eco-friendly winery.
The vineyards diversity of terroir is a great asset. Bordeaux varieties thrive in the cobbled soils of the Upper Bench and Heritage Rhône clones are planted alongside our Old Vine Zinfandel block at the highest point in the vineyard.
Label Artwork
The back label of each wine in our artwork series is graced with a commissioned work of art from Dennis Ziemienski, that tells the unique story of the wine.
In keeping with the train theme of the artwork for our original Rhône blend (Chemin de Fer), the artwork for Inattendu, French for "unexpected," shows train tracks winding through the bucolic landscape of the estate vineyards at our Glen Ellen winery.
