Winemaking Notes
Deep garnet in color and scented with black cherry and holiday spice, this Merlot offers a generous, well-structured palate of ripe raspberry and cherry, and finishes long, with notes of chaparral herbs and cigar box.
Vineyard Notes
Justi Creek Vineyard, our original estate property located at our winery in Glen Ellen, was an enclave for the earliest French winemakers in California in the 1890's. It has been painstakingly restored and reimagined with great attention to detail, and is the site of our small, eco-friendly winery.
The vineyards diversity of terroir is a great asset. Bordeaux varieties thrive in the cobbled soils of the Upper Bench and Heritage Rhône clones are planted alongside our Old Vine Zinfandel block at the highest point in the vineyard.
Label Artwork
The back label of this wine is graced with a commissioned work of art from Dennis Ziemienski that tells the unique story of the wine.
Winemaking is an artform for us. We named our inaugural wine Paysage, French for countryside or landscape painting, to reflect our love of the art of blending for harmony, whether in colors, or in this case, aromas and flavors.
